CHILWELL SCOUT LEADER - KILIMANJARO CLIMB FOR CHARITY

2nd Chilwell Scout Leader & Assistant County Commissioner, Jonathan Tait, has raised over £3,500 in sponsorship and donations for The Alzheimer’s Society.

JT

Jonathan started his fund raising with his 40th birthday, generating £1500 from friends & family from a charity auction and asking for donations instead of gifts. Everyone, including businesses across Nottingham & the Midlands, have been incredibly generous.  He also raised over £100 with an ebay auction of a football signed by 33 ex & current Notts County players (of course Sven kindly added his signature). The summit of Jonathan’s fundraising will be flying off to Tanzania on 25th September to climb Kilimanjaro. The trip has been completely funded by Jonathan, so everything raised goes straight to the Alzheimer’s Society!

Kilimanjaro

Jonathan’s 6 day climb up Kilimanjaro, one of the world’s highest of the 7 continents’ mountains, will take him to a height of 19,340ft/5,995m (pilots go on oxygen at 10,000ft) in temperatures down to as much as -30 °C at the summit and up to 40°C in the jungle. Jonathan commented “I am just glad to help such a worthy cause. I was truly surprised by the number of people dementia effects, this is something that touches everyone eventually, whether friend, family or personally. This cause needs all the help & support it can get”.  Jonathan has reached his target for donations but please keep your donations rolling in & support Jonathan’s efforts, the Alzheimer’s Society & those suffering with dementia by donating online at www.justgiving.com/jonathantait

With over 250 locations across the UK, Alzheimer's Society staff and volunteers work together to provide help and information to people affected by dementia in their communities, providing day care and home care for people with dementia, as well as support and befriending services to help partners and families cope with the demands of caring. Every year the Alzheimer’s Society invests around £1.5 million in the research of dementia. Your donations fund important research that will help improve the quality of life for people with dementia, by tackling questions related to the causes of dementia, investigating good practice in care and treatment, and pursuing a cure.
