Hello!

Hi, let me introduce myself... I’m Dave Case the new County Explorer Scout (Young Leader) Advisor for Nottinghamshire Scouts.

Basically I will be overseeing the DESC's and ESL (YL)'s in the correct implementation of the YL scheme as well as running several county Young Leader events. As part of my role I will be looking at all the modules and missions for the Young Leader programme and seeing how these are delivered and help produce training resources for ESL (YL)'s to use not only ay County level, but at District level.

Dave 'Justin' Case I would also like at least once a year arrange a social get together of all YL’s and their ESL (YL)’s so we can all get together and share experiences.

I will also be looking at a way of celebrating YL's who successfully gain their Young Leader Belt. Whether this is in the form of a special event for YL's, or at a more formal occasion.

In order to start to gel all the YL's and ESL(YL)'s I have created the virtual Explorer Unit – Evolution Explorer Young Leader Unit on Facebook. Please as to join up if you are a YL or ESL (YL) within Nottinghamshire. Once admitted to the Unit, if you want to be member of this virtual unit. Message me with your details (including District and the Unit you belong to)

But some of you may be wondering, who is this mysterious Dave Case fella is....

Well I, like most in scouting, seemed to be born into this mad, fun lifestyle. I started off as a 8yr old Cub Scout at 4th St John’s in Worksop, then progressed to 12th URC Scouts also in Worksop and then into Venture Scouts at 1st Carlton in Lindrick. After that I joined Nottinghamshire Police where I have been for the last 20yrs. During this time i have undertaken many different roles from Section officer, Control room operator, Response unit to my current and perhaps most worthwhile role as a Schools Officer, working in partnership with schools to deter young people away from crime and anti-social behaviour and aid those young people at risk of victimisation. During my time as a Schools Officer, I was “invited” to become ASL at my old group 1st Carlton in Lindrick. I then became the SL before being asked to be the ADC (Development) for Worksop and Retford Districts.

Then a few years ago I received a strange phone call from a old work mate, who we all know, Steve Cree. Who asked me to have a look at being ACC (Scouts). I have now however taken on this exciting role within the Explorer Scout Section. Which brings me back with my old mukka, Malcolm "Scally" Skelton. Who was mad enough to undertake his Woodbadge training with me.

Cheers Dave
