Big Game Live - July 2010
100 Scouts from Nottinghamshire and around the UK (Burnley, Chesterfield, Wolverhampton and Cheshire) took to the streets to compete in a game of Big Game with a difference!
Teams of five Explorer Scouts had eight hours to visit and photograph themselves at various locations around the Greater Nottingham area making use of the superb Tram and Bus network. It is literally a live game of Big Game based in Nottingham. Places to visit included Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall and even Nottinghamshire Scouts own charity shop in Sherwood. It was not all City Centre based. Teams were also tasked to buy a copy of the Nottingham Evening Post from one of the City's street vendors.
NCT/NET donated passes for trams and buses for the day and staff ensured that the young people knew exactly where to find certain locations.
Competitors arrived Friday evening and after setting up camp enjoyed an evening of fun activities before receiving a briefing on safety rules in respect of trams and buses.
Each person taking part was wearing a special Nottingham Big Game Live T-shirt and their respective scout scarf. They were also issued with an identity card and a Day Rider combined bus and tram ticket which they are able to keep as a souvenir.
On return to Robin Hood, score cards and photocards were collected in and then the arduous task of marking took place. Results are declared after breakfast on Sunday morning and prizes presented.
