Apex Competition April 2011
For the second year running the Apex Overnight Challenge took place on the warmest weekend of the year so far. Bright sunshine at warm temperatures greeted another record number of teams as they arrived at Sherwood Pines Forest Park near Edwinstowe in North Notts.
With the event selling out in just 36 hours there were 87 groups of Explorer and Network Scouts from across the UK tackling an impressive series of activity bases including mountain biking, archery, rifle shooting and a thrilling high ropes adventure course. There was fierce competition for the honour of becoming event champions with the winners earning 990 points!
Nottinghamshire were represented by 5 teams, two from Rufford Explorers and three from Gemini (Central Notts) with 'Rufford 2' gaining a very creditable 10th place (690 pts) and Gemini's (It's Passed our Bedtime) 13th (675 pts). Full detailed results are available on then Apex Website with lots of photos taken at the event.

The next Apex Extreme will be held on the weekend of Friday 7th to Sunday 9th October 2011. It'll be three days packed with excitement and adventure as Explorers complete a tough series of challenges at a location in West Yorkshire. From climbing to abseiling, mountain biking to inflatable assault courses, there’ll be a whole host of adventure challenges to test teams to the limit.
