July 2009

Malc Skelton The first half of 2009 has been hectic with two excellent admiralty visits around the county which concentrated on the fantastic programmes of the Sea Scouts. The Navy's inspections have checked into these deeply and a sample has been demonstrated on the night along with a full inspection. Needless to say that both Scout Groups passed their RN Recognition with flying colours.

Everyday adventure has been undertaken by lots of young people in Nottinghamshire Scouts with lots of you submitting your reports to the website, so please keep these coming in.

Whilst at County Camp in May we held our first County Youth Forum. Over 80 young people came together, met and started to look at ways of helping to make Scouting better in Notts.

July saw the 2nd Big Game live event with three teams winning well over a thousand pound in prizes. Well done to Rufford, Chesterfield and Burnley in Lancashire for participating and winning some fantastic prizes that where donated by numerous companies. I already can't wait for next year's event. Thanks to the organising team and everyone for making it such a fantastic event.

I'm excited about what the next year of Explorer Scouting brings. To those of you off to camp or going away for a holiday - have a great time, enjoy yourself but most of all keep safe and remember - please keep living that everyday adventure - I know I am.

Cheers! Malc
