Arnold Scouts get Gold
3 Scouts from 1st Arnold and Woodthorpe Scouts received the highest Scouting accolade for
their age. The 'Chief Scout's Gold Award' is awarded to Scouts who have completed a variety of
challenges including global awareness, outdoor expeditions and community projects, to name but
a few. In total it takes around three years work to acheive the award.
Tom Fox, 14 from Arnold said "I enjoyed completing this challenge, there were so many good
bits". "finding out more about third world countries and understanding issues surrounding poverty
has made me want to travel there when I'm an older Scout to take part in a community action
project"
Chief Scout, Bear Grylls said, "Every child has a right to have an adventure. Life is about grabbing opportunities. The prizes don’t always go to the biggest, the best and the strongest – they go to those who persevere. These are simple life lessons that Scouting teaches people"
